Your local library is in need of dedicated, hard working and friendly volunteers. Skilled volunteers have opportunities to work with teams of staff on projects, learn new skills, and have fun.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteer positions require a time commitment of six months or minimum of 20 hours and mandatory training.

Public Service

Community Database- Community Link database maintain the Your Community Link database. Will train candidate(s) to run a list each month, and update the community information database as needed; they will need to use the Internet to check information and a phone to contact the agencies monthly for new information; posts changes to site. This position requires knowledge of Microsoft Word and great communication skills.

Job Search Center- Assist consumers in filling out online applications, writing resumes and cover letters. Provide informal instruction to job search consumers in accessing and using computers. Assists with organizing and filling displays in job search area of library, may be asked to assist in other branches.
Special Projects- Candidates will be added to special events email and will receive emails for upcoming events that they can assist with. (no training , or commitment required)

Bookmobile- Volunteers are needed to help children find and select materials and to help keep the books in order. Candidates must be able to move around the bookmobile, and be patient with children. Preferred candidates will be able to meet bookmobile at school/or other community locations to reduce travel time. (This is a physically demanding position )

Sights & Sounds – Re-cataloging adult DVDs (both movies and TV series) in the library’s collection database. These changes will ultimately reflect the new direction in which the Sights & Sounds department is headed. Candidate(s) must be detail-oriented, computer savvy, competent in data entry, able to complete tasks with little direct supervision, and also enjoy working alone. This is long-term project that will require a 2hr a day and 2x’s week commitment.

Children/Youth– Data entry for variety of programs, straightening, alphabetizing, cutting scrap paper, organizing DVD collections, creating packets, children and youth program planning. Work includes prolonged sitting, as well as moderate lifting, carrying, reaching, stooping, pulling and pushing activities, and clear speech.

Adult/ Circulation- Shelf reader, computer assistant (helping others sign onto the Library catalog and use the Internet) and creating displays and bulletin boards, data entry, processing memberships.

Interns - Those seeking college credit are encouraged to apply (must have minimum of 30 credits)
